We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our External Reporting team here at Disney, on a 12-month fixed term contract!

As a Senior Accountant, the successful postholder will support the External Reporting team and Disney Controllership & Tax Executives with Statutory Financial Statements preparation, ATOL and ABTA audits, and will work closely with the EMEA Tax team. This role covers responsibilities for the Statutory Financial Statements preparation for three key UK legal entities and requires collaborating closely with the external auditors to coordinate UK GAAP adjustments, audit procedures and appropriate statutory filings for these legal entities.

This role will require coordinating with multiple external partners on key drivers for the Financial Statements and working with various US GAAP teams on key accounting transactions and determining the appropriate UK GAAP treatment. Business partnering is a key element of this role, often working with Tax, Treasury, Legal and Global Controllership as Accounting support on ad-hoc projects; and supporting the SSC and EMEA Controllership teams with financial and Disney control matters.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within EMEA External Reporting Team, a function reporting into the Head of International External Reporting, within the EMEA headquarters of The Walt Disney Company. The role provides considerable scope for learning, and you will have regular exposure to Disney Senior Executives and Management teams.

Specific elements of this position include:

  • Preparation of statutory accounts for UK legal entities in line with FRS 102.
  • Consulting with the auditors throughout the audit cycle to facilitate timely completion of the audit and to ensure timely filing of the audited financial statements.
  • Support the Corporate Tax function by preparing supporting schedules for tax calculations and any ad-hoc tax audit requirements.
  • Prepare supporting schedules for ad-hoc external audit deliverables – supporting SSC, EMEA Controllership.
  • Consult with various teams on distribution projects and company reorganisation projects.
  • Complete interim financial review and variance analysis for UK legal entities.
  • Completion and submission of various key Balance Sheet accounts across the UK legal entities.
  • Identify and drive areas of improvement within current processes with the aim of maintaining the current high standard of service provided in a more efficient manner.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and Disney Minimum Control Standards by taking part in the annual SOX testing procedure.
  • Support management and wider finance team on any ad-hoc duties and projects.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • You will be qualified (ACA / CIMA / ACCA) at the Senior Accountant grade or at the Finalist’s stage of your studies. Applicants are not required to have direct experience of all the areas listed below and comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Strong experience of data analysis.
  • Strong educational qualifications including accounting work experience.
  • Strong Excel skills are important.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Company accounting experience is preferred.
