Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is seeking an experienced Compositing Supervisor who embodies our core values: an innovative spirit, exceptional creative talent, and a collaborative mindset. This role is specifically designed for a supervisor with a proven track record in the immersive space who can bridge the gap between traditional cinematic excellence and cutting-edge interactive technology.

What You’ll Do:

  • Determine the creative and technical approach for compositing in collaboration with the VFX supervisor and show leadership.
  • Provide consistent leadership locally for the project, to ensure collective collaboration at all levels with a focus on the morale of the crew and the show leadership team.
  • Be aware of the impact creative decisions have on a show's schedule & budget, and be willing to change the creative choices, when possible, to stay on schedule and budget.
  • Delegate creative and technical tasks, as needed, to the appropriate artists in order to maintain an overview of the creative and production goals of the show.
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful and cooperative dynamic within the compositing department.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Demonstrable compositing supervision experience for the duration of at least 6+ projects.
  • The ability to recognize what is aesthetically / technically missing in a shot.
  • Ability to offer various technical or creative solutions to fit with the budget and schedule of the show.
  • The desire to feedback, coach and mentor the team and individual artists to produce the best quality work.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and problem solving skills.
  • A strong knowledge of matte extraction techniques, painting, roto, colour tools and methodologies, the scanning and timing process, matte paintings, and the use of 2 ½ D programs.
  • Working knowledge of LiNUX and shell scripting.
  • Previous exposure to colour pipeline related tasks.

This role is Hybrid, which means the employee will be required to work a minimum of 2 days on-site per week at a Company designated location, and occasionally from home.
