Overview

To assist both the FOH and Bar Supervisors in maintaining excellent standards of all food and beverage activities by providing guests with efficient, friendly and courteous service, while adhering to strict hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

  • To be presentably dressed at all times and reliably on time for shifts.
  • Interacting in a polite and helpful manner with both colleagues and guests.
  • Offering a warm welcome to guests and beginning to remember their names and preferences.
  • Classic cocktail knowledge is essential.
  • Good understanding of wine, the storing of wine and how to pour correctly at the table.
  • Silver service (there are dining options in the Bar over breakfast, lunch, canapes and dinner; and other rooms within the Club that might need help on a given shift).
  • Strong knowledge of all menus, food options, allergens, room capacities, etc.
  • Upselling skills must be displayed at most interactions.
  • Adhering to cleaning routines and using downtime to maintain each space.
  • To place bookings on the right table in OpenTable and to show them to the table.
  • Answer telephone calls and take bookings when the office is unavailable.
  • Be aware of your stock and where it is kept.
  • Attend all service and company meetings as and when requested.
  • Assist in ensuring all bills are paid and thoroughly checked before being closed off, and ensuring that bills are given to all guests.
  • Being fully familiar with the composition of dishes on the menu and be critical of items not presented in the correct manner.
  • Handover to the next person reporting to duty.
  • Further duties will arise from time to time, including when promoted.

Qualifications

  • Classic cocktail knowledge is essential.
  • Good understanding of wine, storing wine and how to pour correctly at the table.
  • Strong knowledge of all menus, food options, allergens, and room capacities.
  • Upselling skills must be displayed at most interactions.
  • Adherence to cleaning routines and maintaining each space during downtime.
  • Experience with OpenTable reservations, phone handling, and assisting with bookings when needed.
  • Stock awareness and ability to locate items.
  • Familiarity with dish composition and ensuring items are presented correctly.
