The Village Swan is a busy, food-led community pub. As we move towards our busiest season, we require a capable and experienced Kitchen Assistant who understands the pace, standards and structure of a professional kitchen.
You must be confident working independently, managing your own workload, and maintaining high hygiene standards without supervision.
Essential Experience- At least 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen environment
- Experience working as both a Kitchen Porter and Kitchen Assistant
- A strong understanding of food hygiene, cross-contamination and stock rotation
- Experience with food preparation and supporting chefs during busy service
- Experience closing down a kitchen properly and safely
- Experience organising and maintaining storage areas, fridges and dry stores
- Confidence labelling, dating and rotating food in line with food safety regulations
- Supporting chefs with food preparation
- Washing up and maintaining high cleanliness standards throughout service
- Full kitchen cleaning duties (including deep cleans)
- Organising store cupboards and storage areas
- Labelling, dating and rotating food correctly
- Ensuring full compliance with food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Closing the kitchen to a high standard at the end of shift
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to work evenings and weekends
- Calm and efficient during busy service
- Proactive and able to work on their own initiative
- Proud of maintaining a clean, organised kitchen
