Overview
Rakuten Viber is one of the most popular and downloaded apps in the world. Working with us provides a unique opportunity to influence hundreds of millions of our users and to be part of the journey that makes us a super-app. Our mission is to make people's lives easier by enabling meaningful connections, from precious moments with family and friends, through managing business relationships to pursuing their passions. We are looking for a dual-threat digital expert to join our ads revenue team. This hybrid role is split between Ad Operations and Audience Strategy. You will be responsible for the technical health of our advertising stack (GAM/SSPs) while simultaneously acting as the primary consultant for our sales team on audience data. The ideal candidate understands how to pull the technical levers of yield management and how to translate complex data sets into high-value audience packages for advertisers.
Responsibilities
- Ad Operations & Campaign Management
- Inventory Management: Manage the end-to-end setup, delivery, and optimization of campaigns within Google Ad Manager (GAM).
- Programmatic Oversight: Maintain and optimize connections with various SSPs and header bidding partners.
- Yield Optimization: Monitor and adjust floor prices across various tiers to maximize RPM and reduce wasted inventory.
- Troubleshooting: Act as the lead for technical discrepancies, creative QA, and debugging delivery issues.
- Reporting: Generate daily/weekly performance reports for internal stakeholders, focusing on fill rates and technical health.
- Operational leg of programmatic curation, PD and PG campaigns.
- Follow the ad delivery process, ensuring correct implementation and functioning across different channels.
- Work closely with the Sales and AM team to debug errors related to ad creatives, tag implementations, and third-party programmatic partner integrations.
- Manage and maintain a healthy ads.txt ID list.
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure brand safety and compliance with ad policies.
- Technical support of the partners' QBR preparation.
- Supporting smaller technical projects and action plans based on partner feedback.
- Audience Strategy & Sales Support
- Sales Consultancy: Act as the "subject matter expert" for the sales team, answering complex inquiries regarding audience scale, reach, and feasibility.
- Project Leadership: Lead the rollout of new audience-centric projects (e.g., implementing a CDP, transitioning to cookieless solutions, or testing ID providers).
- Market Insight: Stay ahead of privacy regulations (GDPR/CCPA) and technical shifts (Privacy Sandbox) to ensure our data strategy remains compliant and competitive.
- Audience Segmentation: Build and maintain complex, high-performing audience segments.
- 1st-Party Data Strategy: Develop strategies to increase data collection points within the app while maintaining strict compliance with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, ATT).
- Testing & Optimization: Run rigorous A/B tests on audience definitions and journey logic. Analyze performance data to refine targeting strategies and improve ROI.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the "data translator" between technical engineering teams and the growth marketing team to ensure tracking events are accurately mapped and actionable.
Requirements
- Experience: 2-3 years in digital advertising, specifically within Ad Ops or Programmatic Strategy.
- Technical Stack: Expert-level knowledge of Google Ad Manager. Experience with SSPs (Magnite, PubMatic, Xandr, etc.) and DMPs/CDPs is a plus.
- Analytical Mindset: Comfortable working with large datasets; proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets is a must. SQL knowledge.
- Communication: Ability to translate technical "ad tech speak" into clear, value-driven language for sales teams and clients.
- Problem Solver: A natural curiosity for why things break and how to make them run more efficiently.
