About the role
The role bridges functional business domains (e.g., Financial Services, Operations, Retail, Marketing & DCX) with central data capabilities (data engineering, BI, analytics, tooling, platforms) within an Enterprise PMO (EPMO) / SDLC governance model. The role ensures business demand for data is captured, prioritised, and delivered effectively, while acting as a thought partner to shape data-driven strategy and outcomes.
This role is responsible for engaging spokes/tribes across The Very Group ensuring that all tribes are engaged with data products and services, and that we have clean alignment and prioritisation in place. It requires a blend of strategic and hands-on work, to be able to identify stakeholder requirements, drive and articulate the future vision for Data.
Key Responsibilities
- Domain Partnership: Serve as the primary data liaison for business domains, building trusted relationships with leaders and squads to translate strategy into actionable data initiatives.
- Demand Management: Own the intake, triage, and prioritisation of domain data needs (use cases, features, improvements) in alignment with EPMO & SDLC processes, portfolio guardrails, and enterprise data standards. Ensure alignment of Spoke/Tribe Roadmaps with that of Data.
- Steer the Data team to deliver data products and services on time, to cost, with the right quality outcome for the customer.
- Define and track product success metrics to always ensure the team are working on the right things.
- Communicate the vision and value of data products and services within your assigned domain.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders in the business and work with the Heads of tribe trio's to facilitate the prioritisation of work to ensure we are collectively building the right thing.
- Ensure Agile first principles - embrace any change or improvements, identifying problems and discussing solutions.
- Proactively manage stakeholders, by forming a close working relationship and ensure effectively timely communication to the right audiences.
- Single Point of Contact for a spoke/tribe on all initiatives related to Data.
About you
- A strong people leader who can galvanise a team behind a strategic direction, with evidence of successfully delivering transformation.
- Experience of driving value and change in a data domain (Engineering, analytics, platforms, etc).
- Experience of agile methodology and tools.
- Good communication, presentation, explanation and influencing skills at all levels.
- Ability to lead collaboration and influence decision making with strong stakeholder and 3rd party management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, at pace to tight deadlines.
- Understand how data is used to drive decision making and realise value and action.
- Have a commercial understanding of our business and what drives our KPIs.
- High level of practical experience of delivering change in an agile environment using.
- Aligns own behaviour and actions to organisation values, vision and goals. Engages colleagues with enthusiasm and commitment.
