About the role.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Womenswear Designer to join our Design team based in our London office.

We’re looking for a passionate, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual to become part of our small but dynamic Womenswear team. This role primarily focuses on designing for our own brand, V by Very, with a particular emphasis on the Curve range. You’ll also play an active role across multiple categories, supporting the wider team as needed.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need prior experience working within a womenswear design team, ideally across multi-category products. Experience in Curve or plus-size design is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of the end-to-end design process within a womenswear department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Researching trend and product direction trend across your department.
  • Ability to produce trend boards, colour, catwalk reports and shop reports for multiple womenswear categories.
  • Knowledge of fabric , and ability to translate this into trends.
  • Knowledge of colour, graphics and print, and ability to incorporate this into trends clearly.
  • If needed, the ability to take responsibility for a womenswear product category, which includes independent research, product development and range building with a buying team.
  • Strong skills in CAD (illustrator, photoshop, Indesign)
  • Ability to create clear and detailed design packs to be sent to the supply chain.
  • Ability to translate initial ideas and concepts into commercial designs.
  • Working closely with buying teams to create a cohesive and saleable collection.
  • Working closely with the technical team, advising factories on fabric, fit, construction and details.
  • Sourcing from the supply base and building strong relationship with suppliers.
  • Reacting to sales information and designing commercially relevant, fashion-forward trends and ranges with our customer in mind.
  • Have strong presentation skills and be confident to present designs in meetings
  • You must have previous experience within Womenswear fashion at an assistant or Junior level who is interested in a new challenge.
