Job Description
The Vertex Companies is seeking a Quantum Consultant to join our International Disputes practice.
The role supports contractors, employers, insurers, and legal counsel by providing quantum analysis and financial damages assessments for complex construction claims and disputes.
Working alongside senior experts, Consultants analyse project documentation, evaluate financial impacts, and develop analyses that support expert reports to be used in, litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
- Core Responsibilities
- Perform quantum analyses to support construction claims, dispute resolution, litigation, arbitration, and adjudication matters.
- Analyse project records, including contracts, change orders, drawings, schedules, cost reports, invoices, daily reports, and other project documentation.
- Assist in the quantification of damages, including delay-related costs, lost productivity, lost profit, disruption, and other financial impacts.
- Review and verify construction costs and evaluate the reasonableness of claimed damages.
- Develop financial models and supporting analyses to quantify project impacts.
- Prepare workpapers, exhibits, technical memoranda, and draft sections of expert reports.
- Conduct research and data analysis using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including programming, engineering, and technical experts, to develop integrated opinions.
- Participate in client meetings and assist in preparing presentations and other client deliverables.
- Support proposal development and business development initiatives, as needed.
- Manage multiple assignments while maintaining high-quality work product and meeting client-driven deadlines.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Finance, Economics, or another construction-related discipline required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction claims, quantity surveying, cost engineering, project controls, commercial management, forensic consulting, or a related construction consulting field.
- Experience supporting construction claims, dispute resolution, arbitration, adjudication, or litigation engagements preferred.
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or progress toward chartership preferred.
- Understanding of construction contracts, project cost management, and commercial practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial and technical data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced consulting environment, manage competing priorities, and accurately track project time and project budgets.
