Commis Chef - Zero Hours - Eastwood Hall - The Venues Collection £13.45 per hour + excellent benefits including healthcare, wellbeing support, 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, life assurance, meals on duty, and more.
Job Purpose
We are seeking a Commis Chef, to work along with the Kitchen Management Team at Eastwood Hall – part of The Venues Collection – to maintain standards set by the Company Operating Standards. The role requires ensuring kitchen hygiene standards are adhered to, communicating effectively with all departments to provide the highest level of customer care, and keeping costs within the Kitchen budgets agreed by the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that work is carried out in a clean and tidy fashion and that the fridge, worktops and general kitchen areas meet Environment Health and Safety standards.
- Be aware of the mise en place needed to facilitate the numbers required for the starter and dessert sections.
- Ensure that all aspects of the breakfast and lunch buffets are covered as per the SOP manual.
- Store food in line with food hygiene legislation.
- Be aware of all food components required to make up each dish to company standard.
- Run the section confidently on a day‑by‑day basis with particular attention to the minimum food temperatures required.
- Use the probe in a clean and calibrated state as required.
- Work closely with the Head Chef in all aspects of the job, including training to the required standard.
- Prepare, cook and serve dishes in compliance with hygiene regulations and company standard.
- Assist other sections as needed to meet the standards set by the Head Chef.
- Maintain equipment and report any defects as soon as possible.
- Attend departmental and training meetings as required.
- Dress in a smart and professional manner in accordance with the standards stated in the handbook.
- Adhere to COSHH regulations.
- Undertake any other reasonable duty as requested by a member of the management team.
- Use equipment only when full training has been given.
- Complete training at the end of each shift and request further training when needed.
- Comply with all health and safety legislation.

- Ensure all food is served to the required company standard.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen operation.
- Anticipate customer needs wherever possible and respond to enhance satisfaction.
- Abide by all company and legislative food standards.
- Confirm receipt of food hygiene training.
- Ensure all procedures comply with the food safety policy.
- Be aware of and uphold all appropriate risk assessments and HACCP.
Health and Safety
- Attend all Health and Safety Training as directed by your Line Manager.
- Work within company and legislative Health and Safety guidelines.
- Know the company procedure and your role in the event of a fire.
- Adhere to company policy regarding hazard spotting, first aid reporting and accident reporting.
- Understand how the Hotel’s/Venue’s health and safety policy affects your department and how it links with the rest of the Hotel/Centre.
To comply with any reasonable request from the management team or your Head of Department.
