A major UK provider of radio systems is seeking a Field Radio Engineer to join their dedicated engineering team. The company is one of the UK's leading independent communications suppliers, specialising in the design, supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of wireless voice and data networks.
The role involves:
- Designing and building bespoke technical solutions in line with customer requirements.
- Providing technical assurance to customers.
- Preparing CODEPLUGS/FLEET Plans for customer requirements (Motorola & Hytera).
- Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of telecommunication equipment from various vendors: Hytera, Motorola, Tait, Simoco, and Kenwood.
- Site maintenance and servicing, including faults management with log analysis, defects debug, and work around responsibility.
- Business support, including customer needs analysis and presentation of new products.
- Providing technical support to communication systems in major contracts.
Skills and experience required:
- 2 years' experience in either military or commercial radio communication.
- RF propagation experience.
- Strong IT experience, specifically in database management, networking topologies, TCP/IP, and DMR/PMR software applications.
- Current or previous SC (security clearance) status.
- Experience in fault finding across multiple telecommunication platforms.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- RF fault diagnostics.
- Broader technical skills, specifically in the design of bespoke solutions.
Desired qualifications include knowledge of PMR programming software (Tait, Simoco, Motorola, Kenwood, and Hytera), trunk radio (MPT1327), and COTS radio repair down to component level.
