The Company
Being a major communications provider, specialising in the design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance of wireless voice and data networks. Our client has one of the largest dedicated radio engineering teams in the UK. Each of their staff members is trained to the highest standard and provided with the latest DMR and Tetra test sets to ensure even the latest equipment can be repaired to component level. With continued expansion, they are now seeking a MoD Systems Radio Engineer to join this thriving business.
The Role
You will be working within the dedicated special projects engineering team and be personally responsible for providing bespoke technical solutions for the MoD on all Radio Engineering.
- Design and build of bespoke technical solutions in line with MoD requirements.
- Provide Technical assurance to MoD contacts.
- Preparation CODEPLUGS/FLEET Plans for MoD requirements.
- Installation, Troubleshooting and maintenance of telecommunication equipment from different vendors but primarily Motorola Solutions.
- Site Maintenance and servicing.
- Faults Management with log analysis, defects debug and work around responsibility.
- Business support: customer needs analysis and customer presentation of new products.
- Involved in providing Technical Support to the communication systems in major contracts.
Skills and Experience:
- Hands-on communications engineer with strong Land Mobile Radio experience, where Motorola LMR/DMR systems (including infrastructure, configuration, commissioning and in-service support) would be a significant advantage.
- The role suits someone comfortable in structured, regulated environments ideally with a military engineering background (e.g. Royal Signals or REME senior NCO / Artificer level).
- Must either be currently SC (security cleared) or held previously and able to refresh without any issues.
- Experience in fault finding across a multitude of telecommunication platforms.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- RF fault diagnostics.
- Broader technical skills, specifically in the design of bespoke solutions.
