The Company
Being one of the UKs leading independent communications suppliers, specialising in the design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance of wireless voice and data networks. Our client has the largest dedicated radio engineering team in the UK. Each of their staff member is trained by every leading manufacturer to the highest standard and provided with the latest DMR and Tetra test sets to ensure even the latest equipment can be repaired to component level. With continued expansion they are now seeking a Technical Lead to join this thriving business.
The Role
You will be working within the dedicated engineering team and be personally responsible for providing bespoke technical solutions for customers and SME on all Radio Engineering.
Core Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination & Planning
- Provide technical Oversight
- Site Engagement
- Documentation & Reporting
- Subcontractor Liaison
- Assist with pre-sales support including system surveys, system design, specification, and documentation.
- Design and commissioning of all aspects of PMR, DMR, telemetry radio & microwave infrastructure.
- Supporting and maintaining Motorola radio systems.
- Liaise with customers in respect of system reporting, performance, and maintenance issues.
- Prepare suitable and sufficient H&S documentation to meet customer requirements.
- Maintain standards of technical excellence within the department.
- Ensure a full understanding of products and services are cascaded through the organisation.
- Contribute to bid support and evaluation.
- Post-Sales support, including customer training.
- Support and coach other members of the team.
- May be required to participate on the standby rotas in the region.
- Ensure all documentation is completed and returned in a timely manner.
- Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines are always adhered to.
- Actively seek and exploit earning opportunities for the company.
- Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities considered appropriate by the management of the company.
Key Outcomes:
- Successfully deliver an outstanding installation to all our clients customers.
- Smooth transition of completed installation package to service team for continued support.
- Grow the clients brand as an outstanding Technical Lead.
Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years experience from within either military or commercial Radio communication.
- RF propagation experience.
- Strong IT experience specifically: database management & networking topologies & TCP/IP & DMR/PMR software applications.
- Must ideally be able to secure SC clearance.
- Experience in fault finding across a multitude of telecommunication platforms.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- RF fault diagnostics.
- Broader technical skills, specifically in the design of bespoke solutions.
Desired:
- Knowledge of PMR programming software Tait, Simoco, Motorola, Kenwood and Hytera.
- Trunk Radio (MPT1327) database management.
- COTS radio repair down to component level, namely Tait, Simoco, Motorola, Kenwood and Hytera.
