Responsibilities:
- Carry out repair operations to prescribed methods and standards.
- Work to times and standards as dictated by Thatcham, insurance company guidelines, manufacturers' standards, and company policy.
- When welding, always perform a test weld and retain results until repairs are complete.
- Repair all areas of damage using body filler and finish using 180-grade production paper.
- Keep an accurate and comprehensive list of additional parts required, and communicate these findings to the relevant departments.
- Maintain good housekeeping; ensure panels that are removed are not left in hazardous positions, and all general waste is disposed of in the areas or receptacles provided.
- Ensure that the vehicle is protected from further damage; windows are kept closed, open apertures are masked off, seat covers and steering wheel covers are fitted, and plastic protection sheets are in place during all stages of repair.
- Retain all parts removed that are subsequently to be re-used in boxes or wheeled cages, stored in a way to prevent damage.
- Store small parts in the vehicle in suitable receptacles to avoid damaging the vehicle.
- Report any parts found to be damaged, or damaged during the repair process or removal, that are not down for renewal or repair to the estimator and production manager immediately.
- Check all PPE equipment on a daily basis, and sign a fit-for-use log on a weekly basis.
- Become familiar with all current health and safety and COSHH requirements related to your function.
- Ensure that parts are not stored on the roof or bonnet.
- Carry out repairs to BS 10125.
Ideally, you will be an IMI/ATA qualified Panel Technician with strong Bodyshop experience. You should have a strong work ethic to provide the best quality service, be a team player, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task. You are committed to delivering excellent customer service and ideally hold a full UK driving license.
