The overview of working as a Panel Technician at our Coventry site involves accurately and skilfully undertaking the panel repair/replacement on vehicles to a customer’s complete satisfaction. Furthermore, detect and diagnose any additional faults for further repair.
Core Duties And Responsibilities Of a Panel Technician:- Carry out repair operation to prescribed methods and standards
- Work to times and standards as dictated by Thatcham, insurance company guidelines, manufacturers standard, and company policy
- When welding, always perform a test weld and retain results until repairs complete
- Use body filler to finish damage repair using 180‑grade production paper
- Keep accurate list of additional parts required and communicate findings to relevant departments
- Maintain good housekeeping (removed panels not left in hazardous position, general waste disposed appropriately)
- Protect vehicle from further damage: keep windows closed, mask apertures, fit seat covers, steering wheel covers, and plastic protection sheet during all stages
- Store re‑used parts in boxes or wheeled cages, prevent damage; small parts may be stored in vehicle if in suitable receptacle
- Report damaged parts immediately to Estimator and Production Manager
- Check PPE equipment daily, maintain fit‑for‑use log weekly
- Familiarise with current Health and Safety and COSHH requirements
- Make sure all lids on paint thinner containers are in place when not in use
- Ensure parts are not stored on roof or bonnet
- Carry out repairs to BS 10125
- Ideally, you will be an IMI/ATA qualified Panel Technician with strong bodyshop experience
- You have a strong work ethic to provide the best quality service
- You are a team‑player
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and multi‑task

- Hold a full UK driving licence
