About the Foundation
The Foundation manages £60m of investment assets which enables us to support Papworth Trust and other disability charities with grant funding.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced property professional to become a Trustee and also sit on our Property and Finance, Audit and Risk Committees.
As a Trustee with significant commercial property experience your role will be pivotal in providing strategic oversight of the investment property portfolio.
The portfolio includes a business park, office and retail units as well as potential development land.
Key Responsibilities
The role of Trustee (we have up to 10) provides vital support to our charity by overseeing the strategic management of our investment assets and ensuring good governance to meet our long-term sustainable financial goals.
This role will sit on the Property Committee and also as the property representative on the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
What are we looking for?
- Knowledge And Experience
- Charity sector knowledge and more than 5 years' relevant experience.
- Significant commercial property experience.
- Property legals.
- Conveyancing and valuation.
- Land development.
- Board ready level, ideally with experience gained as a Trustee or Non-Executive Director in a similar organisation.
- Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship.
- Ability to understand property finances would be desirable.

What will you be doing?
The Foundation's assets are divided between investment property (commercial and developable land) and an investment portfolio.
In the financial year 2024/25 the Foundation made total donations of £1.4m.
The Trustees seek to preserve the long-term real value of the capital held and to distribute a sustainable inflation adjusted level of donations to support the Papworth Trust and other disability charities.
