The University of Wolverhampton is seeking to appoint an experienced, compassionate and highly organised Support to Study Coordinator to play a central role in the operational delivery of the University’s Student Support and Safety framework. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Student Life Directorate at a significant point of institutional development, following the approval of the University’s new Student Support and Safety Policy Suite, including:

  • Support to Study
  • Cause for Concern
  • Fit to Train
  • Pregnant Student Support
  • Trusted Contact and Emergency Information Sharing

The role sits at the heart of the University’s commitment to student continuation, safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing. Working closely with the Head of Support to Study and Director of Student Life, you will coordinate the operational management of complex student support concerns, ensuring that students are supported through timely, proportionate and legally compliant processes. You will coordinate weekly Cause for Concern Panels, triage referrals, support Stage 1 and Stage 2 interventions, and play a key role in the delivery of the University’s new Fit to Train framework for professional programme students.

We are looking for a skilled and emotionally intelligent professional who is confident working within complex and sensitive environments. You will have experience of:

  • Coordinating complex casework or student support processes;
  • Working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Supporting individuals presenting with wellbeing, behavioural or safeguarding concerns;
  • Applying professional judgement within fast-paced operational settings;
  • Managing sensitive information appropriately and confidently.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills;
  • Strong understanding of equality, inclusion and safeguarding principles;
  • The ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure;
  • Commitment to student-centred and trauma-informed practice.

Experience within Higher Education, safeguarding, wellbeing, disability support, student conduct or case management environments would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

The Support to Study Coordinator will:

  • Coordinate Cause for Concern, Support to Study and Fit to Train referrals;
  • Prepare and coordinate weekly Cause for Concern Panels;
  • Oversee operational consistency of Stage 1 interventions;
  • Support coordination of Fit to Train Panels and reviews;
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns are escalated appropriately;
  • Maintain high-quality documentation and case-management records;
  • Support implementation of the University’s new Report & Support system;
  • Contribute to policy implementation, staff guidance and training activity;
  • Work collaboratively with Faculties, placement teams and professional services colleagues to support safe student participation and continuation.
