The University of Wolverhampton is seeking a dedicated and proactive Simulation Technician to join our Technical Services team within the Faculty of Health and Well-being. This is a vital hands-on role supporting the operation and maintenance of our state-of-the-art simulation suites, used in the teaching of health, social care, and related disciplines. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, immersive learning experiences that help prepare our students for real-world clinical practice.
What You Will Be Doing
- Supporting the day-to-day operation of simulation teaching facilities
- Preparing and maintaining simulation equipment, manikins, moulage, and clinical resources
- Assisting in the setup and delivery of practical teaching sessions
- Managing bookings for simulation spaces and supporting student and staff access
- Monitoring, maintaining, and repairing equipment and ensuring safe disposal of materials
- Providing first-line IT support for simulation technology and AV systems
- Supporting recruitment events, open days, outreach and field trips as required
- Ensuring all activities adhere to health and safety regulations, including COSHH, manual handling, and waste management
- Contributing to equipment inventories and assisting with procurement of consumables
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- QCF Level 4 qualification or equivalent practical experience
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Knowledge of health & safety procedures and COSHH regulations
- IT literacy and ability to use or learn specialist simulation software
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or in a team
- A customer-service-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills
- Experience in a practical, hands-on role with a level of physical activity (reasonable adjustments will be made as required)
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g. healthcare, biomedical sciences, technical theatre, engineering)
- Experience in a simulation, healthcare, or laboratory setting
- First Aid certification or willingness to undertake training
- Experience supporting student learning or technical instruction
- Knowledge of stock control or asset management systems
