The University of Winchester is seeking an experienced and inspiring estates professional to join us as Head of Projects & Estate Management. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the strategic management, development and enhancement of a diverse university estate, playing a key role in delivering projects that support an outstanding student and staff experience.

Reporting into the senior leadership team within Estates & Facilities Services (EFS), you will provide leadership across our Projects and Estate Management functions, ensuring the effective planning, delivery and management of capital projects, property assets and estate strategies. You will lead a small talented team of professionals and work closely with colleagues across the University to ensure our estate continues to support our ambitious organisational goals.

As Head of Projects & Estate Management, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Projects and Estate Management team.
  • Lead the successful delivery of a programme of small and medium-sized capital projects from inception through to completion.
  • Oversee the management and optimisation of a mixed-use estate portfolio of approximately 77,000m².
  • Ensure projects and property-related services are delivered safely, efficiently and provide excellent value for money.
  • Act as the University's technical lead and trusted advisor on estate development, asset management and property matters.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, consultants and contractors to achieve excellent outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation and best practice across all areas of responsibility.

We are looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking leader with significant experience in construction project delivery and estate management within a complex organisation. You will bring:

  • A proven track record of successfully delivering capital construction and refurbishment projects.
  • Extensive experience in estate, property or asset management across a sizeable and diverse portfolio.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and support others.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and experience of managing budgets, contracts and supplier performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience of risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels.
  • Relevant professional qualifications and technical expertise appropriate to the role.
