Sheffield University Management School is seeking an experienced University Teacher in Work Psychology to support the delivery of our postgraduate and undergraduate taught programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver work psychology teaching and assessment within the School’s taught programmes, ensuring accessibility, inclusivity and alignment with the University’s Teaching and Learning Strategy.
  • Improve and enhance the student experience and outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
  • Behave ethically in all aspects of the role and act as a role‑model for students.
  • Undertake scholarship activities in Work Psychology that positively impact student outcomes and are influential at a national or international level.
  • Engage in recruitment and outreach activities, including events such as Open Days.
  • Provide core administrative support for the delivery of the Work Psychology and related programmes, such as student advising and mentoring.
  • Provide effective line management where required.
  • Represent the institution with external stakeholders to foster collaboration at regional or national levels.
  • Work according to University quality assurance processes and other regulatory frameworks, including professional bodies such as BPS and CIPD.
  • Contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through inclusive, collaborative working.
  • Actively participate in the principles of the ‘Sheffield Academic’ by excelling in teaching, research and scholarly pursuits.
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  • Experience of teaching Work Psychology or an associated discipline in higher education.
  • Teaching qualification such as FHEA or PGCert Higher Education, or evidence of working towards one.
  • Experience working and communicating with a team of staff.
  • Experience developing strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving.
  • Experience working independently on project activities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and strong IT competence.
  • Psychometric Test User qualifications (Occupational Ability and Personality) and certification to teach psychometrics via SHL’s Accredited Trainer Programme (ATP).

Essential Criteria

  • A PhD (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Experience of teaching Work Psychology in a Higher Education environment.
  • Teaching qualification evidence.
  • Experience of working and communicating with a team of staff.
  • Experience of developing strong working relationships with partners within and external to Higher Education.
  • Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving.
  • Experience of working independently on project activities.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and effective IT skills.
  • Psychometric Test User qualifications and qualification to teach via SHL’s Accredited Trainer Programme.
