Project description:
The post is funded by the UKRI Grant “Motivic invariants and birational geometry of simple normal crossing degenerations”. You will work on a project with Prof. Evgeny Shinder, covering themes such as birational maps, singularities, motives, log geometry and derived categories.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Contribute to research on singularities, Chow groups, rationality problems, and log‑geometry
- Give and attend local working seminars and collaborate with colleagues
- Prepare high‑quality research publications and maintain systematic records of scientific outputs
- Attend international conferences and deliver talks on the research group’s work
- Plan personal research schedules and workloads within the project timeline to meet milestones
- Monitor and check research results, adjusting plans as new developments arise
- Read academic papers, journals and textbooks to stay current and brief colleagues
- Carry out administrative roles as required
- Provide a small amount of undergraduate teaching (e.g., tutorial work)
- Perform other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post
