As the Project Delivery Manager, you will lead the Project Delivery team within one of the AMRC technology groups and support the senior management team in that group to give critical support and advice in project management and strategy. The role supports the delivery of projects and programmes that range in scale and duration. You will be in an environment where you will be required to use your creative thinking skills, combining the development of research and technology theories and applied manufacturing solutions in a non‑production environment. You will also need to demonstrate a high level of capability, facilitating low risk transition of these solutions into our industrial partners’ production facilities.
The AMRC are a Corporate Partner of the Association of Project Management (APM) and continuously train, support and encourage the Project Management team at the AMRC.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting the group in scoping, planning and delivery of a variety of projects and programmes.
- Ownership and support / preparation of project and programme budgets, in collaboration with Research Engineers to ensure they are not exceeded and spent on relevant project items.
- Detailed management, control and reporting throughout the project lifecycle for relevant individuals to be updated on project progress.
- Inputting, ordering and interrogating finance data in order to deliver projects and programmes to budget.
- Responsible for monthly invoicing and deeper financial review of projects and programmes, working directly with AMRC Finance team representatives.
- Management and support of Project Managers within your ‘team of teams’ including offering support/guidance where necessary.
- Makes presentations to senior management on project updates, project cycle, and expected results.
- Support and participate in project teams to deliver projects in time and on budget.
- Present results to internal and external stakeholders at all levels in a professional and concise manner.
- Be responsible for short, medium and long‑term projects and programmes in own area, or contribute to the planning of the group.
- Liaise with partners and suppliers when and where required to form good relationships.
- Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Criteria
- Have substantial Project Management work experience.
- Have a client facing / customer service work experience at all levels of business.
- Demonstrate ability to undertake short, medium and long term projects and programmes carrying out all roles at all levels up to the level of £10m or comparable workload.
- Must hold or have held a formal PM qualification, such as PMQ / Prince 2 Practitioner certification, or equivalent.
- Experience of managing teams of Project Managers and senior reporting methods.
- IT Skills across Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Project – basic to intermediate standard.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, report writing skills, experience of delivering presentations; communicating to staff at all levels the organisation’s strategic plan and their personal contribution towards it.
- Ability to assess and organise resources, plan and progress work activities using Microsoft Project, SAP and other tools.
- Experience of delivering a range of project management approaches (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid etc).
- Demonstrate the ability to actively participate and lead meetings with customers or staff at all levels, giving input and results as required.
- Demonstrate experience in the interviewing and recruitment of project team staff.
- Demonstrate experience of reviewing individual/team progress and performance and embedding organisational strategy into individual performance planning.
