The Customer Care Assistant supports visitors and guest meetings at the AMRC’s main campus across the AMP and Sheffield Business Park. Reporting to the Hospitality Coordinator, the role ensures a consistent and professional visitor experience and handles all aspects of customer care, including room preparation, visitor logistics, catering management, and ad-hoc reception cover.
Responsibilities
- Provide staff and customers with an efficient, hygienic and professional hospitality service.
- Adhere to health and safety, COSHH regulations and food hygiene standards level 1.
- Ensure catering requirements for meetings are met for customers and staff at all times.
- Fully equip meeting rooms prior to meetings as requested by the customer.
- Support events and catering as required.
- Maintain an efficient catering order book and ensure sufficient stock across sites.
- Clear and maintain meeting rooms after catering/refreshments.
- Keep kitchens clean daily and return crockery to the kitchen.
- Provide cover for reception areas when needed.
- Ensure meeting rooms are clear, tidy and ready early in the morning.
- Promote an inclusive OneAMRC culture that values diversity.
- Embed the University sustainability strategy into day-to-day activities where possible.
- Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
Requirements
- Minimum food hygiene standards level 1 or equivalent experience.
- Excellent customer service skills with experience handling student and staff requests efficiently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to deal with colleagues at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to assess and organise resources, plan and progress work activities.
- Self-motivated with a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work.
- Experience with administrative IT systems, including Email, SAP and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH, handling cleaning solutions, manual handling, electricity at work, and safety signs.
Desirable:
- Experience working on a reception.

- Salary: £23,742 - £24,684 (pro-rata). Potential progression to £25,804 (pro-rata) through sustained exceptional contribution.
