We are inviting applications for a Finance Assistant to join the Buyers Team supporting the University’s purchasing and finance functions. Our Financial Management team provides a full range of financial services from purchasing, expenses and transactional level support through to financial reporting, business partnering and financial modelling.
Reporting into the Senior Finance Assistant, you will act as the first point of contact in the Buyers Team. You will be responsible for converting requisitions into purchase orders for goods and services, some travel bookings and expenses processing. You will also provide a range of finance‑related support and advice to staff and students via Teams and email, with a welcoming and helpful can‑do attitude, so a customer service focus is important.
You should be able to demonstrate an interest in Finance, though previous experience in a finance role is not an essential requirement as full training will be provided. You should have good attention to detail, understand the importance of budgeting and adhering to policy, with the ability to manage your time well and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines. We are looking for individuals with good inter‑personal skills, with the ability to work with staff and students from a range of backgrounds.
As a not‑for‑profit organisation, all the income we generate is redirected into providing high quality teaching for our students and the delivery of our world‑class research. The University is organised into five Academic Faculties who deliver this teaching and research (Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Engineering and Medicine & Health Science) and numerous Professional Service Departments who provide the support and infrastructure to enable it.
There are three posts available. They are permanent, full‑time (36.25 hours per week) posts. Job share arrangements may be considered. This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Skilled Worker, therefore we can only accept applications from candidates who already have the right to work in UK.
As a university employee, you will have access to a range of benefits and rewards. The University of Nottingham aims to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop, and reach your professional and personal career goals. We are committed to providing competitive employment packages whilst supporting the well‑being of our staff to help them reach their full potential.
