Responsible to: Senior Marketing Officer (UK Recruitment)

Overall Purpose

To support the delivery of the University's UK Student Recruitment Strategy, supporting the achievement of targeted recruitment numbers of undergraduate students to University of Northampton from the UK, promoting the University of Northampton as the destination of choice for undergraduate students.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist in the delivery, coordination and evaluation of University events, both internal and external, including but not limited to recruitment events, exhibitions, conferences and various other events.
  • Provide coordination for external school events with the University of Northampton and deliver a professional and consistent high quality approach, including where relevant direct liaison with, and support for, the most senior University staff and the provision of a brief for each event.
  • Provide a similar professional and high quality approach including advice to other University events, for example those organised by faculties and departments.
  • To help coordinate on-site requirements for on campus events and for any visiting students, in particular selection days, open days, offer holder events or taster sessions.
  • To respond to all enquiries, correspondence, bookings and logistics related to events.
  • To coordinate logistical arrangements for external visits, including where appropriate transport.
  • A number of events are held in the evening and the post holder will be expected to oversee a number of these events in person. Participation in all Open Days and Applicant Visit days, which are predominantly held at weekends, are key aspects of the post.
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as reasonably requested by the Director of Marketing & Student Recruitment, Head of Student Recruitment and Marketing and Assistant Directors of Marketing.
  • The post holder will be responsible and accountable for ensuring all employment legislative requirements are adhered to including equality and diversity and health and safety issues.
  • The job description may be altered at any time in the future in line with the level of the post to meet changing institutional requirements, but only in full consultation with the post holder.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in business / marketing / event management / customer service and / or relevant demonstrable work experience - Essential
  • CIM/CAM modules/qualifications - Desirable

  • Ability to coordinate the development, promotion and delivery of high-profile events with multiple stakeholders - Essential
  • Track record developing effective working relationships with a range of external and internal audiences - Essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - with ability to respond promptly to telephone and email enquiries - Essential
  • Excellent customer service skills gained via events experience and/or employment - Essential
  • Ability to work independently and use discretion to identify and resolve first line problems or difficulties, recognising when to refer to manager for assistance - Essential
  • Ability to organise and project-manage a demanding workload and effectively juggle competing priorities - Essential
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Higher Education Sector - Desirable
  • Produce comprehensive event plans and associated documents - Essential
  • Prepare event and marketing support collateral - Essential
  • Previous experience maintaining and using a database or CRM system, displaying excellent attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of records - Essential
