This is a new role and an exciting time to join a growing team at the Defence Materials Centre of Excellence (DMEx), a Dstl-funded research centre based at the University of Manchester. DMEx is leading the higher education sector in defence research, and this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant programme.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead the PMO Tasking Team, ensuring the effective coordination of strategic tasks and operational delivery of our research programme. This role is central to managing workflows associated with the distribution and monitoring of £36 million in research funding, covering pre- and post-award phases. You will act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, oversee end-to-end tasking administration, and deputise for the Operations Manager on Centre Security matters, including handling Official Sensitive documentation.
You will thrive in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment, requiring resilience, excellent communication skills, and strong organisational ability. The role is based at the Royce Institute, Oxford Road, Manchester, with hybrid working arrangements. Successful candidates may be required to undertake Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks and potentially undergo Security Clearance. Due to the nature of this clearance, candidates will need to have sole UK nationality. DMEx has an ethnically diverse team of UK nationals.
