An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Fellow to work on a NIHR PGfAR funded programme grant (NIHR206260): Personalised social and self-management support for better living with multiple long-term conditions in the community. In this programme of work, we aim to enhance health and well-being of people living with multiple long-term conditions (MLTC‑M) by adopting a bio‑psychosocial approach focussed on supporting social and self‑management. We will design, evaluate, and implement a personalised multisectoral intervention called CO‑ACTION employing a variety of mixed methods and approaches.

One position is available for a Research Fellow at the Centre for Primary Care and Health Services Research, The University of Manchester. The seniority point awarded will depend on previous experience. The successful applicant will work with Professors Tom Blakeman and Peter Bower in conjunction with co‑investigators at the Universities of Southampton, Plymouth and Oxford. The study is led by Joint‑principal investigators Dr Dorit Kunkel and Professor Mari Carmen Portillo from the University of Southampton.

Qualifications

  • PhD and relevant experience in applied health research projects with successful completion of research activities.
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant long‑term conditions, reviews, quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Successful ethical approval processes, recruitment and conducting research with implementation and commissioning groups.
  • Ability to organise workload, plan research activities to a high standard and to deadlines and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of personalised assessment, mixed methods research experience and trial or implementation of initiatives in clinical practice (advantage).
