Our Estates & Facilities Projects Group is responsible for the planning, construction, and maintenance of campus infrastructure and buildings. With a portfolio of over 300 live projects varying in complexity and value, the Projects Group plays a critical role in ensuring our world-class facilities support the University’s vision.

We are seeking to appoint a Project Building Surveyor within the Minor Works Team, an in-house practice of multi-disciplinary construction professionals managing a range of refurbishment and maintenance projects across campus, ranging in value from approx. £10k to £1M. You will provide a building surveying design and project management function in relation to construction related project work allocated to the Minor Works Team.

You will be responsible for ensuring the schemes allocated to you from inception to completion are completed within strict deadlines and within budget. You will be responsible for obtaining comprehensive client briefs, developing cost effective architectural design solutions that reflect construction methods that incorporate traditional or modern solutions as appropriate, procuring a contractor and managing the site works.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing appropriate documentation for the engagement of contractors, obtaining all necessary statutory approvals and providing appropriate advice on project planning, programming and procurement. You will manage the approved budgets for projects in a manner that is compliant with the University’s financial regulations together with managing the resources allocated to project work.

The successful candidate will possess a professional qualification (RICS or equivalent) and have relevant experience in carrying out all aspects of a professional building surveying function in relation to new build and refurbishment works, from project inception to completion.
