The Head of Operations is a critical strategic role in the Institute. The post holder’s key responsibility will be to provide effective and efficient management of all the Institute’s cross-functioning teams and operations across all partner institutions. As a member of the Productivity Institute’s management team, the Head of Operations works in partnership with the Managing Director, Research Director and Policy Director to ensure that the Institute delivers its vision and strategic objectives.
This is a key strategic professional services role within the Institute and includes development and execution of all functions of the Institute’s strategic, operational and business plans, including proactive engagement and negotiation with funders, partners, Institute staff, academics and other stakeholders.
Specifically, the Head of Operations is responsible for the leadership of the Institute’s logistical, administrative and financial operations, ensuring the Institute conforms with all relevant legal, statutory and operational compliance, oversight of the Institute’s management of contracts and reporting across the Institute including the partner organisations.
Management and oversight across all marketing, communications and engagement functions is also an integral part of the role, as is senior level support to the development of future funding opportunities for the Institute. The post holder will be expected to take a broad, strategic view of the Institute’s work, anticipating future needs and ensuring operational plans align with the wider ambitions of The University of Manchester’s 2035 strategy and the national research landscape.
Effectively guiding leadership and funding transition processes and delivering an agile response to change management will also be key.
