Careers Advisor (STEM) (two posts available) in Manchester

We have two exciting opportunities to join one of the largest and most dynamic careers services in UK higher education. As a Careers Advisor, your role will be to actively contribute to the personal and professional development of our undergraduate and postgraduate students and recent graduates, including supporting varied careers activities and initiatives to enhance employability.

The roles will be based within either our Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health Careers team or the Faculty of Science and Engineering Careers team, primarily supporting the delivery of services across these faculties, but also the wider Careers Service.

As part of your application, please include evidence of your interest in careers and employability, along with any relevant knowledge of, or experience of working with/within, the STEM field. Although the two roles are very similar in terms of the projects and activities that you will be involved in, if you do feel that your knowledge or experience are better aligned to a particular Faculty, please state this in your application and we will do our best to take this into account.

In addition, you should have experience of and/or a strong interest in working in higher education careers and employability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, and familiarity with the various social media channels would be particularly advantageous. A proven ability to develop valuable working relationships, and a positive, innovative and flexible approach to work are also required.

The Careers Service currently operates on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of two days working on campus. Flexibility is required in line with caseload, with an expectation that colleagues will work on campus significantly more in the initial training period and during peak times of year (generally September/October and February/March). Blended working arrangements may be considered.
