Overall Purpose of the Job: The University of Manchester is one of the UK's leading research universities. This post offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the research programmes whilst expanding their experience in animal technology, working within both traditional and barrier facilities and with a range of species (including aquatics and farm animal species). The successful candidate will assist the facility management with the day-to-day management of the facility.
The successful candidate will help co-ordinate the animal husbandry work of the facility, supporting other Senior/Area Supervisors and help to train new Technicians (Junior and Licensed) with in-house policies and procedures. An essential requirement will be to ensure liaison with licensees and the Named Persons thereby contributing to the essential culture of care and compliance within the facility. This will include the use of IVC technology, supervision of day-to-day husbandry, breeding, maintenance, and genotyping of genetically modified animals. Checking and recording environmental parameters and general condition of animals will be required daily.
Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party. The offer of employment will be dependent on the successful candidate passing that screening.
