The Access & Student Success team is responsible for ensuring that the University identifies and recruits' students of outstanding achievement and potential from all educational backgrounds. The team encourages progression into higher education, particularly within local communities, and supports the successful continuation, attainment and progression of students who may face barriers during their studies.

We are recruiting a maternity cover for the role of Access, Student Success and Development Coordinator.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working with groups underrepresented in higher education. Key attributes include the ability to manage a varied workload in a busy environment, a flexible and proactive approach to work, strong problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience of motivating or supervising others. Knowledge of safeguarding and experience of developing risk assessments are essential.

While appointees will be expected to support a range of projects across the team in response to business need, this recruitment focuses on supporting our pre-entry programmes, including Manchester Gateways, Manchester Young Academics, Summer Schools and The Brilliant Club.

The role includes supporting the planning and delivery of a residential summer school, requiring an overnight stay in student halls for two nights, with primary responsibility for Year 10 learners. You will typically work with pupils in Years 5-12, with a particular focus on secondary school students.

The post holder will be responsible for managing programmes and delivering engaging campus visits and workshops for groups of up to 120 pupils. Excellent attention to detail is required, as the role involves maintaining internal databases and external systems such as the Higher Education Access Tracker (HEAT).

Working closely with external partners and internal colleagues, you will contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of programmes through effective evaluation, reflection and evidence-informed practice.

What you will get in return:

  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period

As an equal opportunities employer, the university welcomes applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit.
