Overview
The CEAMS Application Scientist role at The University of Manchester is part of the Centre of Expertise for Advanced Materials and Sustainability (CEAMS), a multimillion InnovateUK funded programme extended to March 2026. The project aims to realise the opportunities in Greater Manchester to supply sustainable materials for manufacturing, accelerate cross-sector collaboration, and drive commercialisation of developments in sustainable materials, AI/data/advanced computing, and related areas.
We seek to employ an Application Scientist with expertise in one of the following areas: sustainable polymers, nanomaterials, data analytics, materials 4.0, or nano-composites.
Responsibilities
- Contribute as an Application Scientist within the CEAMS programme, applying materials science expertise to research, development, and collaboration efforts.
- Collaborate with consortium partners (Royce, GEIC, SMI Hub, NPL, NCC, CPI, and others) to catalyse cross-sector and cross-supply chain activities and support knowledge transfer to industry.
- Engage with projects related to sustainable advanced materials, AI, data, and advanced computing as part of GM regional initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in one of these domains: sustainable polymers, nanomaterials, data analytics, materials 4.0, or nano-composites.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work within a multi-institutional team and engage with industry partners.
- Experience or interest in translating research into commercial or industrial impact.
