The University Campus Support and Security Services provides a safe, secure and welcoming environment for its students, staff and visitors across the entire University Estate, providing welfare assistance as required, with the continuous aim of ensuring an inclusive, hospitable, supportive and safe environment for all.
We are currently seeking a number of candidates to join the team in the role of Campus Support and Security Officer. Applicants are required to have professional skills knowledge and abilities for resolving security situations with empathy, compassion and confidence.
Working alongside team colleagues, the post-holder will undertake CCTV monitoring, foot and driving patrols across the University premises, ensuring the security of buildings, safety of people and, as required, dealing with intruder incidents and fire alarm evacuations. The health & welfare support and, as required, administering 1st aid to individuals is a key part of the role, as well as dealing with unforeseen and challenging situations, sometimes requiring liaison with The Emergency Services, preparing accurate timely written reports as necessary.
A relevant Security qualification (or equivalent) is required of the successful candidates. Effective verbal and written documentation is also an essential part of the role. Training is provided for the following post-holder requirements: the ability to use role-relevant computer software; obtaining the CCTV Public Space Surveillance certificate; a First Aid at Work qualification.
A Full manual UK Driving Licence (for driving duties in a designated Security Services or other University vehicle). Full uniform is provided, which includes the requirement of wearing 5 to 10 kilo body armour (based upon individual height and weight), whilst undertaking all related duties, including circa 3 hour foot patrols across University premises.

The session will be hosted by Paul Greenlees Deputy Head of Campus Support and Security and one of our current security officers, will be in attendance to also answer any questions and to share their experiences of their time at the university.
