LUB Technician
Grade 5 £29,588 – £33,951pa
This is an exciting opportunity within the Liverpool University Biobank of the Technology, Infrastructure & Environment Directorate to help support, deliver and grow a strategically-important biobanking service for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Biobank Technician to support the Liverpool University Biobank at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (L14 3PE). This full‑time role is split between the hospital and LUB, supporting high‑quality human sample collection, processing, storage and analysis for University of Liverpool researchers and external collaborators. The postholder will work with the Liverpool Aortic Biomechanics and Biochemistry Research Group (LABB) on cardiovascular research focused on aortic disease. Funded by TADCT, the role will support the development of an AortaBank.
Responsibilities
- Support multiple ongoing studies and process and manage patient samples.
- Maintain accurate records using LIMS.
- Help ensure safe, efficient laboratory operations.
- Use a range of laboratory techniques and equipment.
- Support health and safety compliance, and contribute to the set‑up of new studies.
Qualifications
- Educated to BTEC Higher level (or equivalent).
- Experience in a bioscience laboratory or biobank research, laboratory or related discipline.
- Interest in cardiovascular research (preferred).
