We are keen to hear from experienced modern language teachers from across the UK. As we continue to grow, we are looking to expand our bank of Visiting Lecturers to support our new language provision. As a Visiting Lecturer, you will work for the University of Law on an hourly rate basis on a worker contract. Reporting to the Head of Modern Languages, you will be providing tuition and/or designing new learning material across all levels of the CEFR in one or more languages.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about designing engaging learning experiences and engaging with students through teaching and assessment within an academic setting, alongside other professional or personal commitments, or who are seeking a flexible work schedule with limited contact hours. You will enjoy working with a student-focused mindset, be adept in creating innovative digital language learning materials and be able to adapt to the different needs of students and methods of course delivery.

You will be eager to share your expertise, and enjoy variety in your duties which can include the design of self-access modules, teaching online or in person following set lesson plans and material, marking in-course assignments and final assessments, as well as supporting students and dealing with queries.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the design of learning materials and asynchronous language learning activities under the direction of the Head of Modern Languages.
  • Teach and assess across The University of Law’s Language Programme. This will include teaching and assessing students across a range of language skills and levels and giving individual feedback on student performance.
Qualifications:
  • An experienced modern language teaching professional with enthusiasm for teaching in a Higher Education setting and digital learning design.
  • Proficiency of C1 or higher in the language(s) taught.
  • Organised and can prioritise their own workload.
  • Confident and articulate teaching skills.
  • Punctual, with good time management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, whilst recognising when advice/input needs to be sought.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in managing and navigating IT systems to support efficient academic and administrative processes.
Compensation and Training:

The design rate for this role is up to £300.00 per day. If it is your first time designing digital material for the University of Law, you will receive half a day of paid training.
