The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University of Edinburgh’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing Department as our Health & Safety (First Aid) Trainer. We are looking for a dynamic individual who has extensive experience providing first aid training, as well as some experience of other health and safety courses. The University has a cohort of c700 First Aiders, Emergency First Aiders and AED/Appointed Persons, with this post holder managing the training schedule (with support from administrative staff), as well as developing other health and safety course materials. Some travel between campuses will be required, therefore a driver’s licence is required, although a vehicle will be provided if required. The post is full-time (35 hours per week) and open ended.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Competent in delivering health and safety and first aid training courses as evidenced by one of the following: a current, valid FAW certificate; or being registered and licensed as a doctor with the General Medical Council; or current registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council; or current registration as a paramedic with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Manual Handling Trainer or equivalent.
- Train the Trainer IOSH or equivalent training qualifications.
- Experience in developing and delivering first aid training courses.
- Experience of working in a complex work environment or higher education environment.
