Research Fellow position affiliated with the Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Emerging Technologies focusing on Memristive Technologies for Lifelong Learning Embedded AI Hardware at the University of Edinburgh. Fixed‑term, up to 36 months, full time (35 hours per week).

Responsibilities

  • Develop (design, tape‑out, and test) integrated circuits for a wide range of embedded AI hardware applications including AI accelerators, autonomous sensors, biomedical implants, robotic systems, adiabatic computing, and hardware security modules.
  • Focus on emerging memory technologies and architectures and validate and demonstrate IC performance in solving real‑world problems.
  • Support the vision of the 10‑year programme on state‑of‑the‑art Embedded AI Hardware solutions for Lifelong Learning applications.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Electronics (focus on analogue, digital and/or mixed‑signal IC Design and Testing) or closely related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven research or industrial experience in analogue, digital and/or mixed‑signal IC design.
  • Experience delivering research project results in an IC Design and Testing and/or AI context (peer‑reviewed journal and conference papers).
  • Ability to collaborate with researchers from different disciplines or technical backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising initiative and a proactive, flexible approach.
