College of Science and Engineering / School of Chemistry
Full-time: 35 hours per week
Fixed-term: for 8 weeks
The School of Chemistry is looking for a summer intern to work on a project to test and document new software for user and data management. The internship will involve the opportunity to shadow technical staff from different research facilities to learn about their role and the equipment that they manage. Training will be provided on all equipment and software used during the project. An understanding of analytical techniques (NMR, Mass Spectrometry, X-ray crystallography, chromatography, Infrared spectroscopy) would be an advantage, but is not required.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week) for a maximum of 8 weeks; however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- A current 2nd, 3rd or penultimate year undergraduate University of Edinburgh student.
- Experience at working safely in a laboratory environment.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
- Strong communication skills.
