We are looking for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Imaging (Equivalent to Assistant / Associate Professor).
The Opportunity:
The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies offers an exciting opportunity for an ECVDI or ACVR board certified or board eligible veterinary radiologist to join our small animal diagnostic imaging team on the modern Easter Bush campus on the outskirts of the Scottish capital.
The diagnostic imaging team currently consists of 3 senior radiologists (4 including this post), 6 imaging residents and 4 radiographers, coupled with a radiotherapy service with a dedicated radiation oncologist and technicians.
Our imaging modalities include state-of-the-art digital radiography and fluoroscopy, several top-of-the-range ultrasound units, 64-slice CT, a modern scintigraphy unit and a high-field-strength MRI (1.5T). In addition, there is access to a 3T MRI on campus in the Large Animal Research Imaging Facility (LARIF). We have a large array of software packages for special techniques such as contrast enhanced sonography, elastography, osteodensitometry and perfusion imaging. Our imaging modalities are supported by PACS which will be replaced by a state-of-the-art Vendor Neutral Archiving System in 2025.
Our imaging caseload is large and diverse including canine, feline, and exotic animals. Interest in particular species and imaging modalities can be tailored to. The imaging service works within a multidisciplinary clinical environment with many other veterinary specialists, and also with generalists. Research is integrated in the Edinburgh Imaging Community (https://clinical-sciences.ed.ac.uk/edinburgh-imaging), the LARIF and the Roslin Institute, which encourage medical & veterinary radiologists, scientists and engineers to collaborate. There are many opportunities for veterinary undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
The role requires a 60-70% clinical commitment (minimum 26 weeks on clinics), with the remaining working time dedicated to research, teaching and other roles. We offer an attractive continuing education, vacation and pension package as well as payment of fees for RCVS specialist registration and ECVDI/ACVR annual membership dues.
