The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Business Manager to work with the Head of School and Director of Professional Services (DoPS) to coordinate and facilitate School business planning and operational activities during a transformative phase for Edinburgh Medical School, the College, and the wider University.
This pivotal role centres around developing and enhancing governance and decision-making frameworks, coordinating strategic business planning (including KPIs, risk), operationalising and aligning School plans, ensuring effective business continuity planning, and maintaining compliance. An important part of this role will be the use of data and management information, and contributing to development of these for Edinburgh Medical School for informed decision-making and continuous improvement. The Business Manager will be a key member of a developing School planning team, committed to advancing the academic mission and a culture of exceptional service that is inclusive, sustainable, and collaborative.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); we are open to considering requests for flexible and hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
Your skills and attributes for success
- Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional training with experience of business operations, demonstrating development and progression in a range of progressively more demanding roles
- Confident leader with experience of working with senior colleagues, managing teams and overseeing complex multifaceted deliverables
- Proven expertise in navigating and managing evolving business environments, and coordinating resource requirements to the highest standards
- Strong operational leadership, with experience of delivering business planning activities and providing guidance and support to colleagues
- Proven analytical skills and capacity for problem solving, with the ability to absorb complex information quickly, identify issues and make robust decisions
