Salary & Grade: Grade ACN2: £50,341 – £74,591 per annum (funding capped at lower end).
Duration: Fixed‑term: 1 August 2026 – 31 July 2028 OR 1 February 2027 – 31 January 2029. 40 hours per week, 3 posts available.
Location: Usher Institute, Edinburgh Bioquarter.
Key responsibilities:
- Complete ST3 clinical training (50% of time) and academic training (50%) over two years.
- Achieve competencies for Completion of Clinical Specialist Training (CCST).
- Develop research or medical education career pathway: either publishable research for a PhD/MD or educational research for post‑CCT fellowships.
Key qualifications & attributes:
- National Training Number (NTN) in General Practice, due to begin GPST3 in August 2026 or February 2027 (or flexible for part‑time).
- Capacity for innovative, original thinking and ability to deliver high‑quality research or education.
- Experience in research or medical education is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
