Director of People Overview The University of Edinburgh, a leading research‑intensive institution, seeks an experienced people leader to serve as Director of People.
This senior role provides strategic direction to the University’s HR function, ensuring Edinburgh remains an employer of choice and a supportive environment for staff.
Key Responsibilities Lead a team of approximately 140 HR professionals across three Colleges and a range of professional service groups.
Shape and deliver the University’s people strategy aligned with Strategy 2030.
Drive organisational transformation, embedding digital innovation and AI across the HR function.
Champion an inclusive, high‑performing culture and strengthen staff experience and wellbeing.
Lead the evolution of the HR operating model in response to a rapidly changing landscape.
Collaborate with the Vice‑Principal (Corporate Services) and the Executive Team on people‑related decisions.
Build trust across a diverse academic and professional community, demonstrating commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Use data‑driven insights for workforce planning and strategic decision making.
Qualifications Exceptional experience leading large, research‑intensive organisations.
