The Careers Service plays a vital role in enhancing students’ employability and supporting them to achieve satisfying and rewarding futures. In everything we do, we aim to open students’ eyes to the wealth of possibilities ahead of them.
We are looking for an outstanding, creative careers professional, capable of delivering professional, impartial careers education, information and guidance to undergraduates, postgraduates and recent graduates of the University, to enable them to make a successful transition to their chosen career path. The role involves developing relationships and working collaboratively with academics and other university staff to enhance the employability of our students and graduates, embedding career learning more closely in the academic experience. It also contributes to service delivery and projects to further support students’ career development, playing a key role in the University’s strategic theme of outstanding student experience. The post will support delivery to students and graduates at scale and individually, with responsibility for developing strategy for work with and relationships in specific Academic School/s. The position is full‑time but part‑time (up to 0.8 FTE) or flexible working patterns can be considered.
Your Skills and Attributes for Success
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships and to use negotiating and influencing strategies.
- Self‑motivated and able to thrive in an agile environment, responding positively to change.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while contributing to team and service goals.
- Experience in career and/or professional development, ideally with professional qualifications in CEIAG or a closely related field.
