The Opportunity
Join EPCC, the UK’s National Supercomputing Centre, in a highly technological and fast‑moving field. This role is for you if you enjoy understanding the problems other organisations face with AI, designing solutions, developing machine‑learning/AI pipelines and deploying these pipelines in production. You will have experience in programming languages such as Python, R, C++, software engineering, distributed infrastructure, data engineering, and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow and LLM models. You are motivated to learn new technologies and have prior experience interacting with external stakeholders to design, implement and deploy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Understand and analyse the AI needs of external stakeholders.
- Design, develop and deploy scalable machine‑learning pipelines.
- Write clean, testable code and maintain documentation.
- Use version control, containerisation and orchestrations for productionisation.
- Collaborate with data engineers and business users to shape requirements.
- Stay current with emerging AI/ML technologies and integrate them where appropriate.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Strong programming experience in Python, R or C++.
- Proficiency in software engineering practices (testing, version control, documentation).
- Experience with distributed infrastructure (scaling, containers).
- Data engineering knowledge (databases, streaming, MLops).
- Machine‑learning expertise (PyTorch, TensorFlow, LLMs).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Self‑motivated and a quick learner.
