Animal Facility Manager – The University of Edinburgh

Bioresearch & Veterinary Services (BVS) at the University of Edinburgh is seeking an Animal Facility Manager to manage a BVS animal facility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the BVS small animal facilities
  • Ensure high animal welfare, legislative compliance, and a positive work environment
  • Provide expert advice to researchers and manage a technical team
  • Maintain facility standards and promote the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement)

Qualifications

  • Proven management experience in research animal facilities
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation and compliance including Health and Safety and Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills
  • Ability to motivate and develop a technical team within a Culture of Care
  • Expertise in promoting best practices in animal welfare and research support

  • Grade UE07: £41,064 – £48,822 per annum
  • Open Ended (permanent)
  • Full time: 35 Hours per week
