Animal Facility Manager – The University of Edinburgh
Bioresearch & Veterinary Services (BVS) at the University of Edinburgh is seeking an Animal Facility Manager to manage a BVS animal facility.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the BVS small animal facilities
- Ensure high animal welfare, legislative compliance, and a positive work environment
- Provide expert advice to researchers and manage a technical team
- Maintain facility standards and promote the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement)
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in research animal facilities
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and compliance including Health and Safety and Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act
- Excellent communication and advisory skills
- Ability to motivate and develop a technical team within a Culture of Care
- Expertise in promoting best practices in animal welfare and research support
