The selected postgraduate research (PGR) students will be involved in the drafting of the Birmingham Law School’s Athena Swan submission for March 2027, in collaboration with colleagues across the Law School.
Main duties:
- Attendance at the Athena Swan Self-Assessment team meetings (once a month)
- Contribute a PGR perspective to the overall development of the report submission
- Attendance at Athena Swan Working Group meetings to develop sections of the Action Plan (there will be one PGR allocated per sub-group)
- Reading documents prior to meetings to inform discussion
Required knowledge, skills, qualifications & experience:
- These posts are open to current Birmingham Law School PGR students only. Students must have been a PGR student at the University for one full academic year at the time of start date (1st September 2026).
- Applicants must demonstrate their willingness and availability to attend the relevant meetings as stated above.
- Applicants must also demonstrate their commitment to, and understanding of, the importance of gender equality in the context of UK Universities and of the Athena Swan Charter.

- The working pattern for this role will be hybrid, on average 1 hour per week.
- The University of Birmingham restricts all students to working up to 20 hours per week during term time for a maximum of 13 consecutive weeks.
- If your application is successful and your course does not follow the usual academic term timetable (e.g. PGT, PGR or PhD student), you and your supervisor must formally agree vacation periods if this role exceeds 20 hours per week.
