IMPACT Facilitator - Social Work and Social Care - 106921 - Grade 7

School of Social Work and Social Care, College of Social Sciences, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK. Full time starting salary normally in the range £36,130 to £45,413. Grade 7. IMPACT is the UK centre for implementing evidence in adult social care. Facilitators work in a specific local organisation or system to help get evidence of what works used in practice to make a difference to services and people’s lives. They co‑design an evidence‑informed change project, work with diverse stakeholders to implement the project, and share learning.

• Co‑design and deliver an evidence‑informed change project in a host organisation, with support from IMPACT’s national team; review evidence and provide synthesis as required.
• Share learning with others and support embedding lessons learned across UK policy and practice.
• Be a full member of the IMPACT team; take part in online team meetings and contribute skills and experience across IMPACT’s work.
• Gather and apply evidence from research, practice knowledge, and lived experience through engagement with carers, front‑line workers, and other stakeholders.
• Work sensitively with power issues, ensuring inclusion of people whose voices are seldom heard.
• Champion and operationalise IMPACT’s commitment to co‑production, equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Apply and develop knowledge to create new intellectual understanding in social care and implementation through learning by doing.
• Disseminate lessons and findings to diverse audiences creatively and impactfully.
• Share lessons on what helps and hinders evidence‑informed practice with colleagues and other audiences.

• First degree or equivalent professional qualification, or sufficient experience to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills.
• Understanding of public policy, public services, front‑line practice and the realities of people’s lives.
• Experience of applied research or implementation of innovation/new ways of working within a social care or related area.
• Strong commitment to co‑production principles and to embedding them in all work.
• Excellent presentation skills, verbal and written, and ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• High level of personal organisational skills and self‑motivation to work independently and flexibly with the team.
• Collaborative and flexible approach, excellent interpersonal skills, and self‑reflexive awareness.
• Good networking skills with practitioners, managers, policymakers, researchers and others.
