The College of Arts and Law Marketing and Recruitment Team organise and facilitate recruitment events such as Open Days and Offer-holder Visit Days, as well as outreach and international events, in order to ensure the College meets its undergraduate student target. Alongside this, the team also facilitates various marketing activities, such as digital content and marketing collateral, in order to promote the College’s undergraduate degree programmes.

The role involves supporting the College of Arts and Law Marketing and Recruitment Team in marketing initiatives and recruitment activities, with the aim of encouraging prospective students to apply to the University of Birmingham and offer-holders to select Birmingham as their firm choice. Ambassadors are employed to support young people during activities and offer advice and knowledge to future students, their carers and teachers. Ambassadors may be involved in activities such as delivering presentations to large audiences and leading campus tours. Ambassadors may also be involved with creating engaging content to be used in marketing activities such as digital content and marketing collateral.

Main duties include:

  • Assisting with Open Days
  • Assisting with Offer-holder Visit Days
  • Offering friendly and informative advice and knowledge to future students, their carers and teachers
  • Preparing and delivering engaging presentations or participating in student panels
  • Leading engaging campus tours
  • Assisting with the organisation and delivery of events
  • Creating engaging student life blog and vlog content
  • Engaging with future students on social media platforms
  • Representing the student body and voice for the College of Arts and Law marketing and recruitment initiatives

Successful candidates must be current undergraduate students studying a College of Arts and Law subject. Ideally able to offer a minimum 2 year commitment to being an ambassador. A good level of English language is required in both written and verbal communication. A professional approach to work is essential, including being able to represent the University and its brand consistently and appropriately.

This position does not guarantee a regular number of hours per week. The ad-hoc nature of the role is ideal for students looking for paid, on-campus work that fits around their studies and extra-curricular activities. Working hours are variable depending on the number of positions available.
