The Conferences and Events department are looking for 2 students to support with a conference scheduled for 22nd-25th June. The role will be a mixture of helping the client with Venue and IT queries, along with helping upload presentations to the Lecture theatre computers. We are looking for someone who is confident in a client/customer facing role who is also confident with basic IT queries.
Main duties:
- Assist with the computer POD system in the lecture rooms – turning the equipment on and ensuring it is working correctly.
- Ensure Speaker’s PowerPoint presentations are added to the correct room for each session.
- Monitor and ensure the smooth running of the conference.
- Wayfinding assistance for conferences (internal & external).
- Setting up rooms for exhibitions.
- Assisting with loading talks or running mics for lecture theatres.
- Act as a point of contact for any issues on site and escalate these appropriately to the Event Manager.
- Ensure the venue is kept tidy and address any safety hazards.
- Remain vigilant and observe the audience during the performance, to ensure their safety, well-being, and comfort throughout.
- Address any safety hazards that may arise by referring them to the Duty Manager.
- Assist with directing patrons as required in the event of an evacuation.
Duties and responsibilities for this role will vary from time to time and the post holder will be expected to perform other such duties that are reasonably comparable.
Required knowledge, skills, qualifications & experience:
- Experience of providing excellent customer service to the public.
- Confidence with basic IT systems.
- Retail sales experience desirable.
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues.
- Experience working in a performance or events-based environment would be advantageous.
The successful candidates will need to be available to undertake a range of hours across the period of 22nd-25th June.
