The College of Medicine and Health at the University of Birmingham is seeking a Senior Administrator to provide comprehensive administrative support for the HYPERMARKER research project, as well as dedicated PA support to the Lead Investigator. This role will be embedded within the Research Delivery Team, contributing to the smooth operation and success of the project.

The post holder will work closely with the HYPERMARKER research team, ensuring all administrative aspects are managed efficiently to support the team’s objectives and research outputs. The HYPERMARKER project uses AI to help clinical staff find the best treatment for high blood pressure, aiming to make treatment more effective and prevent serious health problems.

Role Summary

As a senior administrator, you will provide support for a broad range of administrative duties, some of which may be complex. You may also manage other staff or support colleagues and share knowledge. You will have the opportunity to lead on specific tasks within a team and may work in different areas of the department or wider University.

Main Duties

  • Deal with complex systems and procedures, offering advice and resolving queries.
  • Maintain high profile working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Organise events including booking venues, sending invitations, and managing logistics.
  • Manage smaller projects and contribute to wider projects through desk research.
  • Use complex University systems to research, analyse, and interpret data, producing bespoke reports.
  • Support the management and implementation of operational processes and systems.
  • Process complex data, monitoring accuracy and resolving issues.
  • Provide specialist advice and training to colleagues.
  • Provide a professional secretarial service to relevant committees and meetings.
  • Monitor budgets, process payments, and manage HR-related tasks.
  • Support equality and value diversity in the workplace.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of grade C/4 in Mathematics and English at GCSE or equivalent.
  • Highly proficient IT skills, particularly in MS Office and enterprise resource planning packages.
  • Proven ability to plan ahead and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of professionalism, tact, and discretion.
  • Ability to work effectively in a large, complex organisation.
  • Understanding of policy and procedures related to equality and diversity.
